Why Facebook won't work
Facebook has been blocked in Russia since March 2022. Meta, the company that owns Facebook, is labeled an extremist organization in Russia, and access to the social network is closed at the provider level.
For the many people who kept in touch with relatives abroad through Facebook, that was a hard blow. The feed, the messages, the group pages, all of it went behind the block.
What exactly breaks
- facebook.com won't open in the browser
- the app can't connect
- the feed and pages don't load
- Messenger won't send messages
How to bring Facebook back with a VPN
Step 1. Install a client
Happ or INCY, FlClashX, Karing and Rabbithole also work. Import the subscription once and you're set.
Step 2. Connect to a server
Turn the VPN on for all device traffic and pick a server in the US or Europe. Facebook serves content from there without restrictions.
Step 3. Open the site or the app
The feed and messages should load. Your account, friends and history didn't go anywhere, the block doesn't touch your data.
Step 4. Messenger
The separate Messenger app needs the same access. Start the VPN before opening it and it will connect.
Why not just any VPN will do
Many VPNs get blocked right along with Facebook, especially free and old ones. You need a service with masking protocols:
- VLESS + Reality, traffic looks like a regular HTTPS site

Is Facebook fully blocked? Yes, since March 2022. It won't open without a VPN.
Will my account be deleted? No. Accounts stay intact, and access comes back with the VPN. Meta's exact rules can change, but as of spring 2026 there's no mass account deletion.
Will my history disappear? No. Your history, photos and friends are all still there. The VPN restores access, it doesn't "switch on" a new account.
How is Facebook different from Instagram when it comes to bypassing? Nothing fundamental. Both are Meta social networks, both fully blocked, both solved with the same VPN.
