Why Instagram won't open
Instagram (the company Meta) is restricted in Russia: the app and site no longer open directly, blocked at the provider level. Your device is fine, the connection is what's cut. Signs it's a block, not a bug:
- the app opens, but the feed won't load

How a VPN brings Instagram back

What to keep in mind
Two-factor authentication
Turn on 2FA in account settings before connecting through a VPN. The first login from a new location may ask for confirmation (SMS code or 2FA prompt). That's normal, Instagram just checks it's really you.
Never enter your password elsewhere
Scammers fake "Instagram via VPN" login pages. Type your password only in the official app or on instagram.com; a VPN never needs it. Don't share it with anyone.
LTE bypass on your phone
Mobile networks usually throttle the hardest. In the client enable "LTE bypass," there's a dedicated server group tuned for cellular networks.
Why not every VPN works
Russia's TSPU filtering slows down traffic it recognizes by protocol signature. Free and dated VPNs use protocols it has long since learned to spot. Ours is built to be invisible:

FAQ
Will I get banned for using a VPN with Instagram? No. The restriction is regional, Instagram doesn't punish users for how they connect.
Do I have to log in again? The first login after a VPN usually asks for confirmation (SMS or 2FA). One time, and your account stays intact.
Is Instagram fully banned? The network is officially blocked in Russia, but through a VPN the app and website work fully. The platform keeps functioning.
