Why Snapchat won't work
Snapchat has been fully blocked in Russia since December 2025 by a Roskomnadzor decision. The app won't open, snaps don't send, and your friends' feed won't load.
It's a messenger and a social network at the same time: you share photos that vanish after viewing, chat with friends, and watch their stories. All of it lives on Snap's servers, and access to those servers is closed in Russia.
What exactly breaks
- the app won't connect, the splash screen hangs
- snaps and messages don't send
- stories don't load
- the Snap Map stays dark
How to bring Snapchat back with a VPN
Step 1. Install a client
Happ or INCY, FlClashX, Karing and Rabbithole also work. Import the subscription, a couple of minutes.
Step 2. Connect to a server
Turn the VPN on for all device traffic. Snapchat keeps a constant connection to Snap's servers, so it needs a stable full tunnel.
Step 3. Restart the app
Close Snapchat completely and open it again. The feed and messages should pull in.
Step 4. If something still won't load
Switch to a different server and check again. Media (photos, videos) also depends on the channel, not just access, so a closer server is usually better.
Which protocols work
Snapchat dislikes choppy connections, so you want a stable channel:
- VLESS + Reality, indistinguishable from HTTPS, holds steady
- Hysteria2, over QUIC, recovers quickly
- XHTTP, masks as an API request
All three are on our servers (46 servers, 12+ countries), so pick the one that fits your network.
FAQ
Is Snapchat fully blocked? Yes, since December 2025. The app won't open without a workaround.
Will my chats and stories disappear? No. Your account data stays on Snap's servers, the block doesn't touch it. Once access is back, everything returns.
Does a VPN turned on only for Snapchat help? It can, but a full-tunnel VPN is better. The app talks to several different Snap servers, and a partial bypass sometimes leaves some features dead.
Does Snapchat work in the web browser? The web version is limited even without a block. It's more reliable to use the app through a VPN.
